SNOW DAY for Thursday, Jan. 9th

Dear Parents,
We want to ensure the safety of all our students, and as part of our safety protocols, we require that parents or an authorized adult meet the bus at the afternoon stop for students in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade. The bus driver will not allow the child to exit the bus unless an adult or authorized individual is present at the stop.
Additionally, children must be at least 8 years old to be allowed off the bus without an adult present. If a younger student has a sibling riding the bus, the sibling must be in 4th grade or higher to escort them home.
No exceptions will be made to this policy. This is to ensure that all younger students arrive home safely. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our students safe.
Thank you for your support!

Dear Western Heights Parents and Students,
Happy New Year and welcome to the second semester of the school year! We invite all teachers back to work tomorrow for a Teacher Work Day. Students start back to school on Tuesday, January 7th. We're thrilled to have our students, teachers, and staff back in action, energized and ready to learn and grow together! This is always such an exciting time of year. Learning is in high gear and teachers and students are equally focused on making progress. Please make sure your child is present every day possible. Although we know that sickness likes to grab us when we are stuck indoors, we need the students at school anytime they are not running a fever or exhibiting excessive symptoms. Speaking of the weather...we also know this time of the year, weather plays into our schedule, so please stay weather aware and look for our communication on those days when travel may be an issue. Local media, social media, our website, and a message will be sent from the district to the phone number or email listed on your students enrollment information.
As we dive into this semester, I want to highlight an important event coming up—the bond election on February 11th. This bond has the potential to greatly enhance our schools, addressing critical needs such as facility updates, classroom resources, and improved safety measures. It’s an exciting opportunity to invest in the future of our students and our community.
To ensure everyone is informed, please visit https://bond-facts.com/2025WesternHeightsBond/ for detailed information about the bond proposal. It includes a breakdown of what’s included and how it will benefit our district.
Your voice matters, and we encourage all eligible voters to participate in this decision that directly impacts our schools. Together, we can create an even stronger foundation for learning and success.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our students. Here’s to an amazing second semester filled with achievement, collaboration, and community pride! If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
Let’s make it a great semester! 😊

Today, our PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade Teachers received the gift of time. Their students enjoyed a break with popcorn and juice while watching The Polar Express.

Our teachers were treated to awesome treats to kick off the week. Donut and a coffee bar. Special shout out and big thank you to Polar Donuts (located at the corner of meridian and 10ths st) for donating the yummy donuts.

MS Bus 2 & 10 were combined today. This bus was involved in a minor fender-bender with no injuries and will be delayed in dropping students at home. This will also delay CG Bus 2 departure and drop-off. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
